What Is Agape?

Agape is more than affection.

The Greek language gave us multiple words for love — eros (romantic), philia (friendship), storge (familial). But agape stood apart.

Agape is selfless. Sacrificial. Unconditional.

It is not love that gives because it receives something in return. It is not love dependent on the worthiness of its recipient. It is the love that gives because of what it is — not because of what it receives.

When Paul wrote in Romans 5:8 that "while we were still sinners, Christ died for us," he used agape. Not because we were worthy. Not because we earned it. But because of who God is.

This is the love demonstrated through Christ.

The AGAPE design exists as a daily reminder of what love actually looks like — not the version the culture offers, but the version God authored.
